" For almost three decades (27 years), I have, with great joy, spent weekly time with children of all ages in an atrium. They have shown me what it is like between the Good Shepherd and His sheep – especially for the youngest.”

-Jennifer Bell

A lifelong observer and connector of things essential and eternal.

I am a catechist of the Good Shepherd for 27 years.

My husband, Tim and I were drawn to this work by our children who started atrium at 3 years old. Our children were inspired by the materials and presentations in the atrium and these experiences continued to be lived out in our home; whether a Eucharistic gesture of epiclesis on a plate on a chair or repeating the words the priest says at our baptism while in the bath. There were beautiful and profound questions about God and Jesus and how they are right here with us now. These children inspired me – there was a hunger in them to know God more and come even closer. I have continually served in an atrium with children.

Parish atrium, home atrium, and school atrium and in all 3 levels of CGS many times serving as Catechist in several atria in the same time, life with children in the atria inspires me and greatly enhances my own life with our Good Shepherd.

I am an active CGSUSA recognized Level I and II Formation Leader in good standing. I am also on the Formation Team of the Seminal Infant Toddler Catechesis.

I have formed the Sisters of Missionaries of Charity novices in San Francisco for 7 years and in 2019 I was the Formation Leader for the novices in Via Casilina, Rome.

I am a Spiritual Director. The children in the atrium enhance my work with their essentiality, hunger for God and great love. Dr. Sylvanna Montanaro said that the child’s quality of love matches God. We adults, I, forget how...the children remind me. Jesus said, turn and become

like them so you will see the kingdom of God. I know I need the children and their silent plea “help me come close to God. Help me be fully who I am.”
